Hawkeye Community College broke ground on Thursday, May 6, on a building that will extend the reach of the College’s services. The Western Outreach Center will be located in the Grundy County Industrial Park south of U.S. Highway 20 along Iowa Highway 14, seven miles north of Grundy Center.
Cardinal Construction, owner of the new building, has signed a five-year lease with Hawkeye for the use of the building. The 6,100-square-foot facility will allow Hawkeye to offer a variety of college courses and Project Lead the Way engineering courses to area high school students. The Grundy Center School District plans to sub-lease some space to offer some classes.
